Dr. Sonia Veiga, Portuguese Language

Dr. Veiga received her Ph.D. Degree in Materials Science from Univ. São Paulo, Brazil. She is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Veiga also has M.Sc. Degree in Metallurgical Eng. from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and B.Sc. Degree in Metallurgical Eng. from Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was assistant-consultant for UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) in Vienna, Austria, and worked as an Engineer at the Research Institute of Nuclear Energy, São Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Veiga is author/co-author of 16 articles and papers presented internationally.

Dr. Stephen Liu, Chinese and Portuguese Languages

Dr. Liu is a Professor at the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO, USA, where he also received his Ph.D. Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He also has a M.Sc. and a Met.E. Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Escola de Engenharia da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil, and an Ind. Chem. Degree from the Escola T?cnica Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Dr. Liu is a Chartered Professional Engineer (The Engineering Council, U.K.) and a Professional Member of the Institute of Materials (U.K.). Dr. Liu spent several years with Specialty Steels of Itabira, Acesita, Brazil and Krome Industrial (at ETFMG), Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He has received 17 professional honors and awards and published over 150 technical papers.

Denisa Ionescu, Spanish Language

Native of Rumania, Denisa is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Dept. of Metals and Materials Eng., University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada where she also received her M.A.Sc. Degree in Metals and Materials Eng. Ms. Ionescu has also carried out the M. Sc. course work at Central University of Venezuela. Her B.Sc. Degree in Metallurgical Eng. was obtained from the Polytechnic Institute, Bucharest, Romania. While working on her doctorate degree, Denisa is still active as a Research Specialist with C.V.G. Siderurgica del Orinoco, C.A., Venezuela. She is a member of the Iron & Steel Society (USA), CIM (Canada) and Professional Engineers Association (Venezuela). Denisa authored and co-authored over 15 papers and articles.

Dr. Oleg Ostrovski, Russian Language

Dr. Ostrovski is Associate Professor, School of Materials Science & Engineering, UNSW, Sydney, Australia. He obtained his D.Sc. (Eng.), Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees from Moscow Steel & Alloys Institute, Russia.

Michael Kogan, Russian Language

Michael received M.Sc. Degree in Metallurgy from Mining Academy, St. Petersburg, Russia. He spent several years in Russia working in ferro-alloys and foundry industries. Mr. Kogan founded Metmat, Inc. (Metals & Materials Co.) after working as Senior Metallurgist at Martin Marietta Aluminum, Lewisport, KY and as Chief Metallurgist at Intalco Aluminum (Alumax). Mr. Kogan is a member of TMS and AFS. He authored and co-authored 10 papers and presentations in various areas of metallurgical production.
